The Assessors Office is responsible for the preparation of the annual real and personal property tax digest in compliance with Georgia Law by utilizing uniform methods and procedures in order to equally distribute the tax burden among its citizens.

Mrs. Smith was born in Jesup, Georgia. She is a resident of Emanuel County. Mrs. Smith is married to Dess Smith IV, who is self employed. Mrs. Smith has two daughters, Nicole Hooks and Sally Smith and one son, Jordan Hooks.
Mrs. Smith graduated from Wayne Co. High, 1974, Jesup, Georgia. She attended Macon Jr. College and East Georgia College. Mrs. Smith is a Certified Georgia Appraiser III and a member of the Georgia Association of Assessing Officials. She is a member of the Swainsboro First United Methodist Church where she is an active member of the First United Methodist Church Choir and United Methodist Women’s Club. She is a member of the Little Pine Seedling Garden Club in Swainsboro, Georgia. Mrs. Smith has been the Chief Appraiser for Montgomery County since October 2005. She has nine years of experience as a property appraiser.

 Mrs. Sharon Strickland is married to Joe Strickland of Mt. Vernon. Mr. Strickland is the coroner of Montgomery County. They have one son, Dr. J. Stacey Strickland who is employed with the University Of Florida.
 Mr. John Richter graduated from Moultrie High School and Moultrie Technical School of Electronic and Technology. He is employed with Southern Nuclear for 32 years. Mr. Richter is married to Yeonnia and they have four children and several grandchildren.
 Mr. Ronnie McLemore is a graduate from Montgomery County High School. He is married and lives in Higgston, Georgia. Mr. McLemore is a member of the New Mt. Ararat Holiness Church where he is the Associate Pastor. He is currently employed with Dot Foods for 7 years and Ailey Post Office for 14 years.
