Loretta worked in the Montgomery County tax office from 1981 to 2002. From 2002 to 2005 she was employed by the city of Mt Vernon in the Mayor's office. She was elected to the office of Tax Commissioner in the 2004 general election. She took office as County Tax Commissioner January 1, 2005.
Loretta is a graduate of Montgomery County High School. She attended Swainsboro Technical school, Savannah State College, and Brewton Parker College. She has one son, Braxton.
She is a member of the African Baptist Church in Mt Vernon.
Leslie Hullender is the Montgomery County Deputy Tax Commissioner
Leslie has worked in the Montgomery County Tax Office since January 2005. She holds a Child Development Degree from St Thomas University in Fl.
Leslie and her husband Duke have three children. They are Tiffany age 16, Nikki age 12, and Duke Jr. (Little Duke) age 9.
She is a member of the First Baptist Church of Mt Vernon.

As defined by state law, the Tax Commissioner is responsible for the billing and collection of current and delinquent ad Valorem taxes due the State, Board of Education and County on real and personal property.
Disbursement of collections is made bi-monthly to proper taxing authority pursuant to the regulations set by Georgia law.
The Tax Commissioner is also responsible for the collection and Disbursement of Mobile home taxes, Public utility taxes and Timber taxes.
Also, pursuant to state law, this office is responsible for the Billing and collection of ad valorem taxes due the State, Board Education, County, and Municipalities at the time of tag/decal Sale.
Disbursements are made bi-monthly to proper taxing Authority.
