Magistrate Judge Mona Richardson Bell made history when she was elected in August 2002. She was the first female to be elected Judge for the Montgomery County Magistrate Court. She has lived most of her life in Montgomery County. She attended Montgomery County Schools, graduating from Montgomery County High School in 1970. She continued her education at Brewton Parker College in Mt, Vernon, Georgia.
Judge Bell was the law librarian with the Wheeler County Correctional Facility before becoming the Deputy Clerk for Montgomery County Superior Court. Judge Bell has two sons, two daughters-in-law, two daughters, two son-in-laws, three granddaughters and four grandsons. Judge Bell is a member of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Vernon, Georgia. She enjoys traveling, walking, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to Chief Magistrate Mona Richardson Bell, our Magistrate Court Department consists of Judge Ashley Thornton, and Kathy Rudd.
Kathy Rudd is a member of the First Baptist Church of Mount Vernon. Kathy has a degree in Business from Brewton Parker College. She is married to Scott Rudd. Scott is a co-owner of J&S Produce. They have two daughters. One daughter teaches at Montgomery County Elementary School and the other, Kaci Rudd, is a student at BPC.
