David Curry is our County Manager. He spent thirty years with the University of Georgia as the County Agricultural Agent. David has been the County Administrator for the past five years.

His educational background includes a BS degree in Agriculture from the University of Georgia.  He also holds a MS degree in Extension Education from the University of Georgia. He is a Certified County Official and has completed Phase 1 of Financial Management for County Government.

He has been married to his wife Debbie for thirty five years. They have one daughter Shannon who is an x-ray technician at Bacon County Hospital. They have one son, Shane who is employed with the UGA Cooperative Extension Service.  They have two granddaughters named Brileigh and Bristol Bagley.

David has been is a member of the Mt Vernon Baptist Church for twenty seven years.

The office of County Manager is under the direction of the Board of Commissioners. As the County Manager, David is responsible for coordinating county departments as a combined organization to implement the policies of the Board of Commissioners.

Management Services: 

Responsible for the internal administration of the County Manager’s office, providing support to all other departments, and the Board of Commissioners. Our county manager obtains information needed by the Commissioners for policy decisions, and is responsible for day to day overall county operational decisions.

Community Relations: 

Provides information to Citizens and the Media.

Customer Service: 

Assists citizens needing general information.

Intergovernmental Affairs: 

Liaison to State and Federal Government bodies. Coordinates all grant activity within the County government, as directed by the Board of commissioners.

Financial Administration: 

Prepare Annual budget in cooperation with the Board of commissioners, and Department Heads. Inform the Board of commissioners about the financial needs and conditions of the county. Review financial records on a regular basis.
